Tomek Rakowski - preparations before the exhiition

Man did not wait for the coming of social sciences in order to develop ideas on law, morality, the family, the state or society itself, for they needed such ideas in order to live.

Émile Durkheim

Today opens an exhibition on Broniów sociological thought. In Broniów and its neighbourhood political thinking and acting is what absorbs people in almost every age. One of the Broniów inhabitants became a village administrator at age of 21 years old! He is a member of the communal council. One of our great interlocutors, farmer, milk woman, long-term councillor when she met us, she introduced herself as a “political animal”.

Thinking about was is common and about community absorbs people, joins them and gives the reasons to a very lively conflicts. What to do with what is common? The fire station in the village was built together, so was the common room, now the playground is being designed. The most important thing is that the way people from Broniów think can be arranged in an unusual configuration of social thought – the history of Broniów sociological thought. On the exhibition two volumes of history of sociological thought by Jerzy Szacki will be put on the platform. The history of Broniów sociological thought fits in this classical work; it is a complement to it.
The history of Broniów sociological thought consists in five profiles and five ways of thinking about the good, rural community. This is the five types of social thought. Its guiding mottos can be arranged in a sequence of associations.
